In the practice of Douglas...temporality is enfolded in moments between memory, perception and the spaces outside of the frame. The everlasting character of temporality is a distinguishing attribute of contemporary manifestations of the photographic sublime, enabling subjective (emotional) and object (reason) paradigms to remain in permanent mesmerizing reciprocity - to picture that which is there or to press at the limit of verisimilitude. In other words to envision intangible dimensions of feeling and wonder at their mystery, and yet still remain situated in a world of intractable movement and changeability- to provide a suggestion or symbol of who and where we are, in the deepest sense imaginable.
